All in a Day's Work

For those of you that know Connor, or even those who keep up with him on here, know that he is quite the active little man. I don't know if it's because he is a boy or we're at "that stage" but he is on the go 24/7. So Momma has to come up with various activities to do inside and outside the house daily.

This morning I was getting ready and he decided to go into my closet and dump out all of my dirty laundry. (and yes i am a bit behind.)

His vocabulary is expanding and it's really funny to listen to the words and sounds he's making (or trying to make.) Mimi put on a big cowboy hat and said "yee haw." Now he associates every hat with that sound, although his is a more high pitched "ah ha." We were in a restaurant yesterday and he saw a football helmet. He ran up the helmet and starting saying "ah ha." Here he is modeling his "ah ha."

He wants to know how everything works and is put together. Here he is trying to take apart the vacuum cleaner:

He is learning how to un-baby proof things in our house which is a bit scary. He can even take out some of the covers to the outlets. Yikes! As I was cooking breakfast, he figured out how to pull out a pan from the cabinet. He turned the skillet to the side and out it came.

Because he doesn't sit still for more than 5 seconds, he's never been one to watch TV. I USED to think that was great, now I am wishing otherwise. Lately though, if he's tired enough he will climb into the recliner and i'll turn on Barney or Wonder Pets (this is sewious!) and we use it as a wind down method. The past couple of times it's worked:

We've now started battling separation anxiety. Connor and I are literally together 24/7. Unfortunately we don't have free babysitting here so I take him with me everywhere we go. The only time we are apart is for 2 church meetings a month and worship on Sunday morning. He now associates the nursery at church with me leaving him and begins the crying. Apparently it doesn't stop b/c when we go to pick him up, he has cried so hard he can't catch his breath. SO...I'm sending him to Livingston for a couple of days this week to see how he does away from me.

Well there ya have it. All in a day's work at the Settlemeyer house. And this was all in a span of under one hour!

The Secret's Out

To tell Connor's grandparents that we were expecting again, we dressed him in his big brother t-shirt and let them read it. As you can see, both grandmothers had the same response. (The 2nd video gets a little lengthy so after the initial "oh my gosh" you can stop it.)

Everyone keeps asking when we'll find out the sex and the answer is on delivery day!! I already have the equipment I need and if it's a boy he'll just wear Connor's clothes. But if it's a girl, I'm sure some grandparents I know will enjoy buying lots of lace and ruffles!!

Blessed Once More

SURPRISE!!!

Yes Connor is going to be a big brother. I am due March 30th, but since Connor was 4 days late, I'm guessing it'll be the first of April. Or as the doctor so kindly put it, "expect to go full term." With Connor we waited to tell people until the 2nd trimester, but because we've already seen the heartbeat, we're excited to share the news with all our family and friends. My doctor said I have a less than 2% chance of a miscarriage so I should tell the world. We were very shocked at first but are now looking forward to our little ones being only 22 months apart. You see, I am a planner, but God's plans are much bigger than mine:

Baby #1
Our plan - To hopefully be pregnant by summer 2008
God's plan - Connor Joshua was born June 9, 2008

Baby #2
Our plan - Start trying for baby #2 once Connor turns 2
God's plan - Baby #2 will be born 2 months before Connor's 2nd birthday

After the initial "oh my gosh, oh my gosh" I look forward to the fun times ahead. I have a little bear figurine that holds & displays Bible verses. Every day I try to read one to Connor. After we found out I was pregnant (and had a sleepless night,) I woke up the next morning to read that day's verse. God was definitely speaking to me. The verse was Jeremiah 29:11 which reads "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

So it is with that, that I can sit back, take a deep breath and smile knowing that we are Blessed Once More.

The Little Pianist

Yes our son is a child prodigy. He helped accompany his Uncle Jason on the piano this past weekend. It was the best version of "Chopsticks" we've ever heard!
He LOVES watermelon and found a new use for it while watching Elmo:

I was in the kitchen, and I heard the TV changing channels. I looked and Connor had crawled into the recliner, found the remote and was changing the channel. He thought it was hilarious and kept right on while enjoying his goldfish. What a couch potato!

His new thing is blinking. We tell him to blink his eyes and this is what he does:

On another note, Daddy is no longer D. The new name is "Mama D."

Private Time

Well, I hate to do it, but it's time we make our blog private. After seeing this story in the news http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,536294,00.html I decided to make the switch. So if you still would like to keep up with the Con-man, please post a comment or e-mail me at thesettlemeyers@yahoo.com. (It might take a few tries as i'm really not sure how to make it private, but bear with me.) There are some exciting posts coming up, so we hate for anyone to miss out!! ;)

This past weekend while Josh was on his A&M boys trip, Connor and I went to the lake with some other mommas and kids. He wouldn't hold still long enough for me to get many pictures, but here are a few. Thanks again Erin for letting us stay at your house!

Perfect! A cute little girl just my size. "Hello little girl!"
Splashing around.
He was fearless of the water!! He kept testing me and would walk further out everytime.
