Happy 2 Months!

Reid turns two months today! At this stage:

--He doesn't really nap, other than about a 10-15 minute cat nap. Every once in a while I will luck out and he'll sleep in the car seat or snuggled up next to me, but that's it.
--Goes to bed sometime between 7:00-9:00 then wakes up between 1:30-2:30, again between 4:30-5:30 and up for good around 7:00.
--Has been eating 4 oz about every 3 hours, but the past few days has been eating 5-6oz every 2-2.5 hours! I think he's having a growth spurt. Reading back to Connor's 2 months, the doctor told us the sleepless nights were probably due to his constant growth spurts, so maybe that's the case with Reid as well.
--Smiles and talks a lot more and I LOVE having conversations with him. He will flare his nose and move his eyebrows up and down when talking. So cute!
--Really enjoys bathtime. He gets very still and quite when I'm bathing him.
--Uses the pacifier sometimes, but spits it out a lot too! Likes to suck on his hands, so much so that sometimes he gags himself!
--Loves the mobile in his crib. He can lie there for the longest time just watching it.
Check back in a few days for his stats of height and weight!

And we can't forget about Big Brother C!

I think he's outgrowing his crib:

Connor loooooves his baby brother. He can't wait until Reid is old enough to play with him. Here is a friendly game of Peek-A-Boo. You'll hear him say "Peek a boo.  I see you Baby Reid" in a high pitch voice, which is the way he talks to him. This game had been going on for quite some time, and I caught the tail end of it.

Lovin' that Watermelon

Connor and our next door neighbor enjoying two summer favorites - watermelon and swimming!
Our neighbor is 3 months older than Connor and has a sister who is two months older than Reid.  We have really enjoyed living next door to them, but they are moving next week.  We are so sad to see them go.

Fun in the Sun

I have a feeling we're going to have several "Fun in the Sun" posts this summer. We have turned our backyard into a waterpark filled with a pool, sprinkler, slip and slide and a huge sand box.

We love playing on the playground!  Connor found older boys to start chasing.  He'd yell, "Hey boys. How doin?" And once he got onto them, "Boys stop runnin!"

And what's the start of summer without corn on the cob?
Baby Reid just chillin'

Reid loves taking a bath; I'll have some bathtime shots soon.  Here he is bundled up ready for his pj's.
"WHAT did you say????" Love this expression!!
All smiles

Outdoor Fun

We are so glad that the weather has turned warmer because we spend a lot of time outside. I've said it a million times, but if Connor could move his bed outside he'd be in Heaven! We are now finding out that Reid, too, likes being outdoors. I foresee lots of father/sons camping trips in the future. Lately after dinner we open the back door and let Connor run. We let him get completely wet and dirty and he has a ball. Reid and I just sit back in the swing and laugh. (Well at least I laugh.)
Dirty and lovin' it!
He kept yelling to the neighbors, "I water grass. I water plants."
Lovin my baby blues!!

Sacked Out!
And the blog wouldn't be complete without a bathtime serenade. Ladies and gentlemen I give you "Jesus Loves Me."

Take Me Out to the Ball Game

Aside from a trip to the mall and a birthday party, we had our first family of four outing this week.  We went to see the Round Rock Express baseball team and had such a fun time.  I was sure Connor was going to be wild and run all over the place and Reid would be fussy so that neither Josh nor I would be able to watch the game.  Definitely not the case.  Connor LOVED it and Reid slept the whole time.  We met our friend, Ellis, who brought his two boys and the three little ones entertained each other.  Connor clapped, yelled, danced around and did not sit the entire game!  The best part was at the end when Josh caught a foul ball with his bare hand!  The rest of the time Connor kept saying "I catch ball from sky!"
Thanks Ellis for a fun evening.  We can't wait to do it again soon!!

The Express is a minor league team for the Astros, so we had to get decked out in our Astros gear.
It was $1 hot dog night so we had our fair share of 'dogs!
"I catch a ball from the sky!" Notice Ellis looking on.
So proud!!
Connor and the Taylor boys.
Enough of this already!

Before I was a Mom

Before I was a Mom,
I never tripped over toys
or forgot words to a lullaby.
I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous.
I never thought about immunizations.

Before I was a Mom,
I had never been puked on.
Pooped on.
Chewed on.
Peed on.
I had complete control of my mind
and my thoughts.
I slept all night.

Before I was a Mom,
I never held down a screaming child
so doctors could do tests.
Or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night
watching a baby sleep.

Before I was a Mom,
I never held a sleeping baby just because
I didn't want to put him down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces
when I couldn't stop the hurt.
I never knew that something so small
could affect my life so much.
I never knew that I could love someone so much.
I never knew I would love being a Mom.

Before I was a Mom,
I didn't know the feeling
of having my heart outside my body.
I didn't know how special it could feel
to feed a hungry baby.
I didn't know that bond
between a mother and her child.
I didn't know that something so small
could make me feel so important and happy.

Before I was a Mom,
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night
every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay.
I had never known the warmth,
the joy,
the love,
the heartache,
the wonderment or the satisfaction of being a Mom.
I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much,
before I was a Mom.

Oprah often says the hardest job in the world is being a mom.  The thing she fails to mention is that it is also the most rewarding job in the world.
Happy Mother's Day to all the incredible women we call MOM!

Happy Birthday, Reid!

ONE MONTH!! Being born on the 31st, on the even months do we celebrate his monthly birthdays on the 30th or on the 1st? And what about February??

I love having another little boy! Since high school I always said I wanted my first two kids to be boys and God heard me! :) At one month, here are some things to know about Reid:

--He probably weighs close to 11lb. as he's been gaining about 6oz a week since birth
--He eats about 4 oz every 2-3 hours, although this week it's been more like 1-1.5 hours. Josh keeps thinking we're not feeding him enough and looking back at Connor's one month, his nurse told us we should be feeding him 5 oz every 3 hours. So I guess we'll up the dose. And if anyone has extra Similac coupons hanging around we'd love to take them off your hands. I'm nursing some, but just can't keep up.
--He LOVES being in the snugli. He falls asleep in a matter of seconds when I put him in there.
--He is not crazy about the car seat unless his tummy is full!
--He only likes a pacifier some of the time, but usually spits it out soon after it's been in.
(I'm sure I'll keep adding to this list later)

Keeping the tradition, here starts the monthly shots with the same lion and chair I used with Connor:

He loves sleeping on this oversized very cushiony pillow
And my hilarious little Con-man is back!!! A couple of weeks ago he was running fever from 102-over 104 and I think he just wasn't feeling well, which caused him to act the way he did. I mean, the boy didn't eat for a week, which is highly unusual. Last night he ate 8 piece chicken tenders and still wanted more. The way these two boys eat I think I'll need a lifetime membership to Costco's!
Connor's gotten less jealous of Reid and wants to be with him all the time! I cannot leave the room b/c Connor tries to pick him up or hug & kiss him, or tickle him, or as he did yesterday, tackle him. It is cute though to hear him say "Hi Baby Weid" because his voice goes up an octave.

Can you see where this is headed???
