Superhero Gernastics

"Gernastics" as Connor calls it, or "nanastics" as it's referred to by Reid.  The past 6 weeks the boys took a boys only gymnastics class.  They dressed up as superheroes and instead of flips, cartwheels and handstands, they did superhero things--swung on a rope, climbed a ladder, jumped backwards on the long trampoline and did all kinds of fun obstacle courses.  The boys had so much fun!!  There were friends of theirs from pre-school in the class and they LOVED it!  I couldn't get many action shots, but here they are showing off the costumes they wore while training to save the day!

Now don't you feel safer knowing these Superheroes are out there saving the day?!?

Taking a Bus Trip

A few weeks ago Josh, once again, won tickets to the Texas Rangers baseball game through ESPN radio.  Whereas last time the trip was to San Antonio, this one was at the Ballpark in Arlington.  We knew we couldn't find a sitter for 12 hours so we asked for 4 tickets to take both the boys.  But the day of the game, we decided Reid was just too young to ride the bus full of people.  Josh and I knew Connor would have a good time, but didn't know which one of us would go.  Finally as it was time to go we decided that it would be a good outing for Connor and his momma and Daddy and Reid would go swimming.  Connor was sooo very excited!!  He was GREAT on the bus (I on the other hand got a little car sick!)

Connor took this picture of me on the bus.  He kept trying to talk to me and I just felt so badly! Blah!
Here's my little date in the stands.  Connor didn't want anything else other than cotton candy.  I convinced him to eat a cheeseburger first, then came the big bag of sugar!!
Being silly and making a face just like his daddy!
We had a very exciting visitor come join us.  Yea for UNCLE JASON!!!!

The most exciting thing (other than cotton candy and Uncle Jason, of course) was that Connor and I were on Fox Sports Southwest!  We first stood next to the big bus which the camera zoomed in on Connor.  Then Jim Knox was interviewing the group and tried to talk to Connor.  He said "even 4 year old Connor was on the bus" and when he tried to lean in to talk to him, Connor shied away and wouldn't talk.  Knox finished it up by saying "it's going to be a late night for Connor!"  And it was.  We had his soccer game (in the heat) earlier that day and the interview was about 9:30pm.  Mimi and Papa Jud happened to be watching the game so they recorded it for us.  Ha.  And Jim Knox was right about it being a late night.  About 5 minutes into the drive back home, this is what I saw in my lap:
He slept the whole way home until we arrived at our car around 1:30am. Then he popped up and was in the best mood! He laughed and talked the whole way back to our house!

Fun Times!!

Our new PET?!?

Last week the boys learned about octopuses in science class.  At the end of the day, the science teacher was handing out several of these creatures to a good home. Uh...really?!?  Connor of course was all over it and SO excited to bring it home.  It had just recently died and the teacher gave him gloves to use to explore.

I have to admit as grossed out as I was (will I ever get used to being a BOYS moms?!?) it was pretty cool to look at the tentacles and suction things on it.

And we can't leave out the little stinker (aka Reid) on this blog, so here is a video they sent Uncle Jason on his birthday.

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there but especially our very own Mimi, MeMaw and Great Nanny!

Connor's class had Muffins with Mom on Thursday and it was SO sweet and well planned.  When the moms first arrived, each child greeted and escorted their mom into the classroom.  There was a buffet of fruit, muffins, etc and the child prepared a plate for each mom then led us to our seat.  On the wall, there were portraits of each mom, painted by the children.  The moms had to guess who all the moms were, which was quite comical.  You could definitely tell which were the boys moms and which paintings were the girls!  I think this is the spittin image of me!!
Mrs. Grant then read these "All About Moms" to see if we could guess which mom it was.  I knew it was me when the answer to "I like her to cook" was "shrimp and fish!"  That's Connor's favorite food!!
Then the kids lined up in front of the class and Mrs. Grant read the book, "Love you Forever" and when she got to the part where the Mommy sang, the kids sang the words.  It was really sweet!
I was then presented with a lovely crown (which I wore all day Mother's Day!!) and a plate that Connor drew on.  He said "I painted something I love...my mom and drew hearts around her."
He was SO excited all week about their Mother's Day surprise and when we left school, he said, "Mommy I had so much fun with you today!"
And here is the hand print flower pot that Reid made me:

I say it all the time but I am so wonderfully blessed and thankful to be able to stay home with my boys.  Yes there are VERY difficult days but I could not imagine not spending all day every day with them.  When I have those difficult days, I will try to remember these words:
