Sound The Alarm!

Recently, Connor has been saying he wants to be a garbage man AND a fireman when he grows up.  Because I didn't think having a birthday party at the dump would be a good idea, we celebrated at the local fire station.  It was AWESOME!!

Here's the birthday boy on the morning of his party.
 Getting everything set up.

We had a long table and at each child's seat we had a fireman's hat with their name on it, a water bottle with a fireman label, a red bag with their name on it for the pinata candy, a fire safety coloring book and a craft project.  The coloring books and craft projects were compliments of Livingston VFD!

Matches (pretzels dipped in red almond bark)
 Fire Truck Wheels (chocolate donuts)
We made chocolate cupcakes with buttercream icing.
 The pinata from Paw Paw
The firetruck cake Mimi and I made.
It was a low-rider type fire truck

Though it wasn't our best cake, it still turned out pretty cute with all the details.
Firehouse Veggies & Fire Dogs (pigs in a blanket)
 Flaming Fire Hoses (twizzlers)
 Fire Extinguishers (water bottles)
 The craft project

Addy and Ava drove down from Keller just for the day!

The fireman showed the kids inside the firetruck and told them all about it.
 Time to hit the pinata
Uncle Jason came down from Big D to join in the celebration!
 Love my little firemen!

Getting ready to sing "Happy Birthday"
 Blowing out the candles
 Connor's FIVE!!
The Firemen talked all about fire safety and gave the kids a complete tour of the outside and inside of the truck.

They even demonstrated what it was like to put on their full gear (and it was SO hot on this day!!)

They do this so that the kids won't be scared should they see a fire fighter in an emergency.

Time to open gifts.  He received several legos, books, leap pad games, pool/water toys and $ for him to pick out whatever he wanted.  (He loves that!!)

Connor Turns 5

Our sweet, little Con-man recently turned FIVE!!  At his 5 year check up, he once again measured tall and lean!
Height: 46.5" (off the charts)
Weight: 44.5lb (75%ile)

At each birthday, I check the height predictor and with these measurements it says he'll be 6'6" (and probably less than 200lb!)

Here are a couple of pictures he took of himself:

Last year I asked Connor a series of questions and again asked them this year.  To see how these answers compared to last years, click here: http://thesettlemeyers.blogspot.com/2012/06/q-with-4-year-old.html

He is still a great eater and eats pretty much anything and everything.  He likes to make his own pb&j sandwiches and has been known to eat four at a time!
He likes to help us in the kitchen.  His specialty is pancakes with Daddy and cookies with Mommy.

He's growing up so fast and is such a sweet, caring little boy.

The Little Graduate

I can't believe Connor is now a Pre-K graduate! Whats more, I can't believe he's going to be in Kindergarten!  He had a wonderful year in Pre-K and we loved his teacher!  All year, she commented on how smart and sweet he is.  She said he is more than ready for Kindergarten and will do great!  And I don't doubt it!!  His school had a graduation ceremony which was really cute.

The teacher would call out the child's name, then say the one thing he/she liked most about the year and what they wanted to be when they grow up.
Connor said his favorite thing about school this year was the Mother's Day Brunch and making a plate for Mommy!  Aaaawww!  And he wants to be either a garbage man or firefighter when he grows up!

The little graduate and proud parents!
 Proud grandparents--Paw Paw
 MeMaw
 & Mimi and Papa Jud
 Silly Connor!

Here is Connor and Mrs. Grant the first day of school...
And the last day. He's really grown!!
In her thank you note, she wrote to Connor that "not only are you smarter than smart, you have a heart of gold to go along with it. Don't ever lose that thoughtful, caring nature."  She went on to say, "Connor truly made me smile everyday and not one day went by when he didn't "help" me in some way. I know he will see success where ever he goes."
We will surely miss her!!

Connor had another graduation we were able to attend.  The boys are apart of a wonderful program called Parents as Teachers.  Our parent educator, Ms. Elaine, has been visiting us since Connor was one and we love her too.  The graduates wore a cap, but Connor wouldn't wear his long because it would mess up his hair!!!

They played a slideshow of their baby pictures and a video saying what they want to be when they grow up.

Connor and  Ms. Elaine!!!

Isn't this a cool pic?!?

Go Fireballs!!!

This spring we had the privilege of coaching Connor's soccer team.  Josh nor I consider ourselves soccer fans, but coaching 4 year olds was so much fun!! We had an awesome team and the parents were all so supportive.  All the kids had a great time as well and many have requested to be on Josh's team again.  Their team color was red so Coach Josh came up with the name "Fireballs."

Connor really improved a lot. It was fun watching them learn about teamwork! :)
The night Connor got his trophy he was very excited.  When we went to check on him after he had gone to sleep, the trophy was sleeping next to him in bed!!
I'm not sure why this photo rotates every time i upload it, but here is the team:

Many of the parents had such wonderfully nice things to say about Josh and his coaching skills.  One parent told us all of his kids have played soccer for years and they have never had a coach so caring and fun as Josh.  We also received sweet gifts and notes from parents saying their kids had grown and improved so much and really appreciated the time and dedication Josh put into making it such a great season.  I loved watching Josh coach and Connor play and we can't wait til next season when Coach Josh will be coaching TWO teams!! :)

GO FIREBALLS!!
