Silly Boys

Yep, that pretty much sums it up!

Playing a game called "Ride the Yak."  Reid holds onto Connor at the waist and Connor runs in a circle trying to fling Reid off.  They think it's awesome and laugh the entire time!

Since Connor is a summer birthday they celebrated in his classroom last week.  Going with a summer theme (and since they can't have cupcakes) I made these to share with the class.
Daddy bought dual dvd players to use in the car. Genius!! Then we found headphones so we can have a little bit of peace and quiet.  At least until Dora asks questions and we hear, "map!" "backpack!" "Swiper no swiping!"

Connor thought it was perfectly fine to go outside looking like this.
Connor loves playing dress up.  On days he doesn't nap, he has quiet time in which 90% of the time he comes out wearing some kind of costume. (Note to grandmas: hit up the stores after Halloween for half priced costumes!!)

Too bad this kid has no personality!!

Evidentally Superman was too busy saving people to comb his hair this day.
And my favorite.  Lately Reid wants to get in Connor's bed and read books together. Silly, yet sweet boys!

No Such Thing as Gutter Balls

At least not when you are a 2 or 3 year old bowler! This morning we met our friends, Brady and Laney, at the bowling alley.  None of them had ever been bowling before so we weren't sure how'd they do.  They loved it!  (At least the boys did!  Laney wasn't so sure about touching the ball.)
If you've never seen how the little ones bowl, there are bumper pads in the gutter and a little "slide" you roll the ball down.  We did move the slide a few times to let them throw the ball on their own but Reid's ball came to a stand still right in the middle of the lane! So the slide came back.  For those of you with little ones, you can sign  up for your kids to bowl 2 free games every day for the summer!  It's a great deal: http://www.kidsbowlfree.com/  We'll definitely be going back!

Getting the ball ready...
And down the slide it goes!
 Reid's turn!
As soon as the ball would hit the pins, every single time Reid would run back to me and yell "One Point!"
 Taking a snack break.

Reid loved putting his face down where the air blows out.  Ah he keeps me laughing!

Not that score matters one bit, and not that they have a competitive mother at all, but...

The Foursome.  Thanks Jones Family for a fun outing!

PBS Event

Austin is great for so many reasons. There are always festivals, concerts and events of all kind going on around town.  Last weekend KRLU, the local PBS affiliate, celebrated 50 years with an event downtown.  It was crowded but we got there early and were able to see many characters.  I couldn't be everywhere with the camera and I would see Josh and Connor hugging a character but by the time I got there it was too late.  We still were able to get pictures of several!  It was fun and the weather was nice and breezy!

For those of you with kids in the Austin area, you will recognize Ms. Rosa.
The Biscuit Brothers on stage.  They were really cute and talked the boys every time they'd get off stage.  If you look closely you can see Connor and Reid in front.
Connor talking to Princess Presto from Super Why.  She has spelling powers
High 5ing Super Why, who has the power to read.
Posing with one of the Biscuit Brothers.
You can see Connor in the middle.  He was listening to Ms. Rosa read a story.  Connor's teacher says he really enjoys story time at school.
 Ms. Rosa reading
Getting a better view of the stage.
They learned about healthy foods and vegetables by making a bracelet.
MeMaw met us there and spent the day with us.
I believe this is Miguel from Maya and Miguel.
 Word Girl

Thanks Austin and PBS for all the great shows and entertainment!

Date Night

Josh and I only get to have a date night once every few months, but Connor and I have not had a date night since Reid joined our family.  So last week I told him we were going on a date just the two of us but wouldn't tell him where.  I thought he'd be excited when I told him Reid couldn't come but his response immediately was, "well I want Reid to see the surprise too!"

All day we talked about our date and he even told his teacher about it.  So that evening he and I loaded up and we went to Disney on Ice Toy Story 3.  The performance was at the Cedar Park center which is a wonderful place to see shows and less than 5 minutes from our house.  This is where the Texas Stars hockey team plays so Connor thought we were going to a hockey game.  When I explained to him what we were actually going to see, he came over to me and said, "Mommy, I  love you!"  I might've teared up a little.

The show was great and I think I'll be asking him out on a second date! ;)

Connor is growing like a weed.  I know because he will eat three bowls of oatmeal, yogurt and fruit for breakfast, have a snack and eat again for lunch.  He and Reid usually eat 18 chicken nuggets at Chick-fil-a, plus fruit and ice cream.  He dressed himself yesterday and came out wearing these jeans.  The same jeans I bought new for him just a few months ago!!

When I asked him to take those off, he put these shorts on.  Not exactly hitting the runway soon, but at least he's trying.

And I can't have a blog without mentioning Reid.
I gave him an apple to eat; he ate a few bites then was done. When I picked up the apple, this is what I found.  A smiley face!!!! Connor and I thought it was too funny!!

I'm so lucky to have 3 hot boys to choose from for my date nights!! :)
