For anyone that's ever lived in Houston, you know how big and popular the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is. So now that we live closer to Houston we decided to take the boys one day. The last time we went was in 2008 and this is what Reid looked like much of the time:
Needless to say, he didn't remember much then!
But this time he and Connor had such a great time!
The one thing we were all most excited about was the mutton bustin. Mutton bustin is an event held at rodeos similar to bull riding or bronc riding, in which children ride or race sheep.
Getting ready!
As usual, they are side by side; always inseparable!
Here goes Connor! We have videos, but unfortunately, I can't get them to load straight. :( Connor held on til the end and the rodeo clowns had to pull him off when the sheep reached the end! He had the high score for much of the time!
Next up was Reid. He didn't last as long as Connor, but he still did a great job!
Walking back with one of the clowns.
Happy and proud cowboys!!
Walking out to get their ribbons, while all the parents cheered!
It was definitely the highlight of the day!
Then it was time to practice milking the cows.
I didn't get any pictures, but we were able to see cows giving birth while we were there.
Always a highlight for the boys is the petting zoo. They laughed and laughed watching and petting the many different animals.
Knowing Reid's personality, this picture cracks me up!
Connor kept saying, "take a picture of me with this animal...now this animal"...etc. He tried to get a picture with every animal there.
Then it was time for a tractor pull contest. They competed in a pedal-powered tractor pull with heavy weight in the back. Unfortunately, Connor didn't make it past the first round...
But Reid made it to the finals!
Again, I have a video but can't figure out how to flip it. :/
Showing off their TWO winning ribbons!
It was such a fun family outing!! Yee Haw, Y'all!!
