We survived, but what a day it was. Hurricane Ike hit our area around 6:00am Saturday morning and lingered for quite some time. The winds started much earlier Friday evening, so I did not sleep much for fear a tree would fall on our house. Luckily, one never did. I prayed and asked God to put a bubble around our house, and that He did. So many of our friends and neighbors had trees on their roofs, on their vehicles and through their homes. After all was said and done, we had lots of branches and limbs everywhere, but our roof was untouched. We were truly one of the lucky ones. It was such a sight to see these enormous trees get blown right out of the ground. We lost power Friday night/Saturday morning and it was finally restored Wednesday evening. Thankfully, the weather turned cool on Monday, so it was bearable. We didn't have tv or hot water, so that was not much fun. Yesterday was the first time I'd seen pictures of Galveston and the aftermath. My mom has a good friend whose home in Bolivar was completely blown away. As I was riding through my town Saturday evening I just kept thanking God that despite the devastation to homes, everyone was okay.
I didn't get to take many pictures but below are a few of our yard and a friends yard.

I am 5'10" and you can see how large the roots of this tree are.

SIC'EM BEARS tonight and Gig 'Em Aggies tomorrow (only because they are playing Miami Hurricanes and I am tired of hurricanes!)
