A Hard Day

What a day! (and sorry this is a long post!) Yesterday morning Connor woke up fussing and felt warm. Josh took his temperature and it was 100. We continued to watch him all day and it stayed around 102.6. He was fussy and cranky so I put him to bed at 6:45. Then at 1:00am he woke up screaming...and did not go back to sleep until after 5:00am. Nothing I would do could calm him down. At 3:30 am I loaded him in the car and drove around, dodging deer. He fell asleep but the second I took him out of the car seat, he was screaming again. I gave him a bottle which finally put him to sleep for about 3 hours.

When he woke up his temperature was 104. I was a little worried but gave him some tylenol which dropped it to around 102. Then this afternoon it skyrocketed to 105.2. I knew this was too high to ignore so I called the doc who said to bring him in right away. (Poor guy didn't even get to eat his lunch!)

Once in there, we stripped him down but he was burning up, red all over and would not quit screaming...something very unusual for Connor. Other than some throat issues, the doctor didn't see much so he ordered some blood work. We went next door to the hospital and had blood drawn and had him tested for a UTI.

The tests indicate that there is probably some kind of bacterial infection, but we won't know for sure until all the tests come back. Before we left, the nurse gave him an antibiotic shot. That pretty much topped off the screaming and tears for us. I HATED watching him go through so much today!!!

After feeding him dinner, Josh said that Connor wanted to watch basketball with him. I was gone for 5 minutes, and when I came back, this is what I saw:
Hopefully everything will be okay and the Con-man can get back to his normal and very active self soon.

I"m sorry! Grace had a UTI when she was really little. Her fever would spike every few hours, then I'd give her the Tylenol/Motrin switchout. They were able to catch that it WAS a UTI and put her on meds...-thankfully. That's the worst feeling when they can't tell you what's wrong. Hope he feels better soon!
