This past weekend we went to Livingston and, as always, had lots of fun! As we pulled into the driveway, the boys could hardly wait to get out of their seats. Then as soon as they did, they ran from one thing to the next--pulling out their ride on toys, playing with Maddie (the dog) and going through the huge container of toys. Plus, Connor loves all of the neighbors, so he ran to say hi to everyone.
Papa Jud has been trying to catch armadillos since they like to mess up the backyard. However, this raccoon was in the cage when we woke up. Connor was so proud to tell everyone that he caught a raccoon!
On Friday we drove to the Lufkin Zoo. It has been about 25 years since I was there last. It's not a big zoo, but there were animals there, so the boys thought it was great.
Here I am with Uncle Jason, circa 1986, drinking out of the lion water fountain...
And here we are today drinking out of the lion water fountain...
When we came to the bear's den, there was a note that said the bear died on June 9, which is Connor's birthday. After that, whenever we came upon an empty area with no animal, in a sad voice Connor would say, "[that animal] died on my birfday."
For those of you who have been following the blog for a while, you might remember the bales of hay at a restaurant near my parents house. They change every month and here is this months:
We also found time to feed the ducks in the very dry pond:
Friday night we took Connor to the Livingston football game. In a small town, Friday night football is a big deal (anyone ever watch Friday Night Lights?!?) Plus Papa Jud was the high school principal for many years and I was a cheerleader so this is what we did every Friday night growing up. Livingston's mascot is the lion, but we weren't able to catch up with the lion. We were playing the Huntsville Hornets and when Connor saw the "bee" as he called it, he ran up to him and gave him a big hug.
Who doesn't love a very blue bath?!?
And lastly, we want to give a big THANKS to MeMaw for coming to the rescue and babysitting the boys so that Josh and I could go to a wedding!!
